Recycle Scotland Celebrates 10 Successful Years in Business

Scotland’s leading office furniture recycling business celebrates a decade of success this year. Recycle Scotland, which is part of the Space Solutions Group has seen continued growth, with support from the business community, as organisations look at a sustainable approach to their workplace change projects and the benefits of being part of a circular economy.

Recycle Scotland was established to meet an increasing demand to avoid unnecessary waste and to divert redundant business furnishings from landfill during a relocation or refurbishment project, over this period it has developed to deliver three core services:

  • Refurbishing and re-engineering office furniture
  • Recycling and recovery of core components and base materials
  • Offering a furniture rental service

Lewis Myler of Recycle Scotland says, “When we started a decade ago everyone wanted to be seen to be meeting their CSR objectives and being environmentally aware.  We were able to demonstrate how the components from redundant desks could be recycled as opposed to going to landfill but more importantly, we realised there was a repurposing solution available and we could modify desks to create choices for re-use. Nowadays, everyone has a heightened awareness of the need to avoid unnecessary waste, consume less and save the planet.  Recycled furniture has become a desirable, sustainable and cost-effective alternative to new furniture.”

In 10 years, Recycle Scotland has expanded its reach Scotland wide, supporting clients from two hub facilities, one in Livingston the other in Aberdeen and servicing customers across multiple sectors including local authorities, SMEs, charities and large corporations.
